Registered Nurse, Sarasota
Provide oversight and accountability for patient care.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Manage volunteer nursing staff and clinic aides for the following week to support the number and type of physicians slated to work in clinic each day.

Provide clinic nursing care as needed.
-
Serve as the point of contact for nursing and medical assistant schools sending students for their clinical rotations and orientation to the clinic and supervisory oversight.

Assign students to support operations and to provide a broad range of experiences.

Complete student evaluations as needed.
-
Assist in the recruitment of clinic support volunteers, facility tours, answering questions, manage applications for SFC volunteer services, RSVP and Florida Department of Health.

Manage clinic volunteers receive regular training on HIV/AIDS, OSHA, biomedical waste handling, HIPPA and CPR. Provide or arrange for CPR training for those who require it as a condition of licensure.

Initiate, coordinate and prepare agendas for clinical staff and volunteer meetings.

Notify Director of any facility license and equipment permits approaching their expiration dates.

Assist Director with updating policy and procedure manuals, including OSHA/Hazard Communications, Biomedical Waste Plan, Blood borne Pathogen Exposure Control Plan and Material Safety Data Sheets.

Manage exam rooms prepped and stocked with clinical supplies and forms for the physicians working during both morning and afternoon clinic sessions.

Oversee clinic flow.

Facilitate referral of patients to other community providers in accordance with physician orders and the patient’s condition.

Help patient understand their physician’s orders and next steps.

Enter patients into CDC cervical and breast cancer grant programs.
-
Administer Pink Ribbon grant funds to ensure that patients receive screening mammograms.
-
Provide medical record documentation of all nursing care, facilitation of outside referrals and actions taken on abnormal test results and prescription refills.

Follow up on calls from pharmacies for prescription clarifications.

Post-audit patient charts to ensure that all physician orders are carried out, notes are signed and dated, test results have been reviewed and signed off by the provider and all chart documents contain patient identification.

Provide or arrange for patients’ diabetes education.
-
Conduct QA and preventive maintenance on clinic equipment as recommended by the manufacturer.

Comply with personnel policies.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Licensed Florida RN with a minimum of 3 years experience working in an outpatient clinic or physician’s office.

Computer skills Microsoft Office products.

Current CPR certification.
-
CPR instructor certification preferred.
Experience in geriatric nursing and diabetes patient education preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Pre-employment testing including PPD, Drug screen and Level II background check. FL Driver’s license and reliable vehicle for business related travel.
