The Harold and Kay Ronson Dance Floor at Friendship Center in Sarasota will be dedicated at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 3, in honor of the benefactors who made it possible.  

Harold Ronson, who donated funds for the floor, will be on hand for the dedication,which will include remarks by Senior Friendship Centers President and CEO Robert Carter, and a dance demonstration by members of the White Sands Chapter of USA Dance.  

"We are deeply appreciative of the Ronsons' gift," Carter said. "It is a wonderful addition to our center, where dancing is so much a part of healthy aging activities. The new dance floor is larger, accommodating more dancers, and the beautiful oak plank surface is both aesthetically pleasing and great for dancing."

Harold Ronson chaired  "A Night at the Opera" Senior Friendship Centers' signature event in March of 2010 which raised more than $80,000 for the centers. This year he will again chair the spring gala, this year entitled  " A Madcap Night at the Circus," March 15, 2011. His belief in giving back to the community is reflected  through philanthropic support for Senior Friendship Centers and other community organizations.

The Friendship Centers features dances and live bands daily Monday through Friday from 1-3 p.m. , as well as dance classes ranging from ballroom to salsa, hula and tap.
