Senior Friendship Centers for Healthy Aging Dental Clinics in Sarasota and Venice are in urgent need of volunteer dental assistants and clinic aides to assist volunteer dentists. 

“We are currently experiencing a shortage of dental assistants to assist the volunteer dentists, who serve in our clinics,” said Clinic Director Julie Moore.  “Whether you are able to volunteer  for a few hours a day, once a month, or once a week, it’s an exciting opportunity to help older adults in medical need in our communities  while working with an outstanding professional team. We welcome dental assistants who may be retired, or currently working in the field, and we’re willing to train interested individuals.  Some background in radiology would be beneficial, though not required.”

Senior Friendship Centers Health and Dental Clinics feature state of the art equipment, and provide an atmosphere that fosters a welcoming  and professional environment. Volunteers are dedicated to providing the best care possible for patients who are often uninsured and of limited means. Fees are on a sliding scale, based on ability to pay.  Last year, the dental clinics provided more than 3,028 patient visits.  The need for care continues to grown in today’s challenging economy, and increasing demands on the clinics.

Clinics are located in the Rubin Center for Healthy Aging at 1900 Brother Geenen Way in Sarasota and the Pat Buster Health Service, 2350 Scenic Drive in Venice.
