May is Older Americans Month, a perfect opportunity to show appreciation for older adults in our communities. Since 1963, communities across the nation have celebrated Older Americans Month—a proud tradition that shows our nation’s commitment to celebrating the contributions and achievements of older Americans.
In Sarasota County we are blessed with a large population of talented, active older adults who play vital roles in the life of our communities. One place you’ll find them is at Senior Friendship Centers, where more than 1,000 volunteers save lives in our clinics, entertain and teach in our centers, deliver meals to the homebound, and enhance quality of life and health for our communities in multiple ways.
Come Play With Us! The theme for Older Americans month this year, is an invitation we’d like to extend to anyone looking for opportunities to have fun, explore your creative side, feed your brain, and make your life matter. To learn more, visit www.friendshipcenters.org or stop by our centers (1888 Brother Geenen Way, Sarasota; 2350 Scenic Drive, Venice) Monday through Friday, between 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
