The Living Rooms Adult Day Services provide a safe environment for loved ones who are frail, or have Alzheimer's or other memory impairment. Your loved one can have fun, enjoy companionship and participate in programs and activities while you have time to care for yourself.

Balance Movement classes, offered weekly in Sarasota County from Newtown to North Port, can help you strengthen your core muscles and build your sense of balance that is so important as we age. Learn the safest way in walking, how to safely get up out of a chair, and other exercises that will help with your balance and flexibility. Each class is open to the public for a nominal fee. Wear comfortable clothing and bring bottled water.

Open to all Sarasota County caregivers without charge, Caregiver Resource Centers provide educational programs, compassionate support, and access to a wealth of information of special interest to anyone caring for a loved one.

The Centers for Healthy Aging Medical and Dental Clinics provide health care to adults age 55 and older (50 and older in Collier and Lee Counties) who have limited incomes or are uninsured. Our clinics are staffed by retired and volunteer physicians, dentists, pharmacists, nurses and health professionals who enjoy practicing for the sheer love of medicine.

Elder Helpline: Toll Free 866.413.5337  Call this number for information on home and community-based services through the Florida Department of Elder Affairs and the Area Agency on Aging of Southwest Florida.  The Elder Helpline is your starting point to access federal or state funded programs and services offered through The Friendship Centers in the communities we serve. This nationwide network conducts preliminary interviews needed to connect people needing services to providers.

One of the best things you can do to improve your health and outlook is to take part in a regular exercise program. Fitness classes are offered at nearly all of our locations.

Senior Friendship Centers facilities are available for private event rental throughout the year.

Friendship at Home matches caring volunteers with isolated seniors through Telephone Reassurance, Friendly Visitor and Supportive Intervention programs. Volunteers are offered orientation. training and continuing education classes, before being paired with clients according to interests and schedules. Professional support is provided to answer volunteer questions.

Nutritious, healthy food is provided at The Friendship Cafés to people 60+. Friendly atmosphere, often with live entertainment bring people together. Come early to play cards, games and socialize.

Brimming with exciting activities, our Friendship Centers are recognized as a model for the rest of the country. Volunteers share their talents offering live music and dancing, exercise classes, arts and crafts, foreign language classes, and much more. Make new friends and explore new interests!

Nutritious meals delivered to your door can make all the difference in the world if you become unable to cook for yourself or if you simply want to be assured of a healthy meal. Home delivered meals are a good way to ensure that a loved one is receiving nutritious meals on a regular basis. Meals are delivered daily, Monday through Friday.

Helping older adults and their families access programs and services is key to our mission. While we may not have all the answers, we can provide a starting point to for information related to many of the services available to seniors.

RSVP -- the Retired Senior Volunteer Program -- connects volunteers age 55 and over with service opportunities which utilize their skills, talents, and experiences to meet a wide range of community challenges. With nearly 500,000 volunteers across the country, RSVP is America’s largest volunteer network for people age 55 and over. RSVP offers a full range of volunteer opportunities with thousands of local and national organizations.

Helping older adults live independently in their own homes for as long as possible is the focus of Senior Friendship Centers' Social Services and Case Management. Case Managers match service options available through programs funded at the State and Federal levels to help clients receive the care they need.

Caregiving is one of the greatest challenges and opportunities most of face in a lifetime. Belonging to a support group can be a lifeline on this journey.
