More than 34 dentists, 8 dental hygienists 3 pharmacists, 25 nurses and 15 clinic aides also experience the joy of volunteering at our clinics.
Students contemplating a career in healthcare are welcome in this collaborative training ground and benefit immeasurably form the wisdom of medical experts.
As the demand for health care continues to grow, we are in growing need of medical volunteers to staff the clinics. Our physicians operate under a limited licensure agreement with the State of Florida, in cooperation with the Sarasota County Public Health Unit. Volunteer physicians enjoy the opportunity to practice for the sheer love of medicine, spending more time with patients than in a traditional practice, and collaborating with their colleagues in an atmosphere that is stimulating and conducive to continued growth in their fields. The opportunity to mentor students and to enjoy continuing education programs is an added attraction for volunteer physicians and medical professionals seeking meaningful ways to give back to the community.
Our Patients
The Centers for Healthy Aging provide quality care for individuals 50+ who are uninsured or in financial need. Most sites accept Medicare. Patient fees are on a sliding scale based on ability to pay. Due to increasing demand, waiting lists may apply. Over the past two years, some patients experienced waits of up to three months or more for an appointment. In order to be considered for dental care patients must first be patients at the medical clinic.
