Friendship Meals on Wheels is a good option for distance caregivers who have a parent or loved one who would benefit from receiving well-balanced meals on a regular basis. This program can also be especially helpful to persons who have just been released from the hospital and are unable to cook for themselves, or people who simply need good nutrition but are unable to cook for themselves. Home delivered meals are also a good way to ensure that a loved one is receiving nutritious meals on a regular basis.
Meals are delivered daily, Monday through Friday, based on our drivers' schedules.
Meals cost $5 per person or $7.50 for two meals delivered to the same address. Homebound individuals 60+ receiving case management services, can receive meals through this program without charge or for a nominal donation.
The Friendship Meals on Wheels service is offered in Charlotte, DeSoto, Lee, and Sarasota Counties through our Nutrition Services program.

When are meals delivered?
Meals are delivered daily, Monday through Friday, based on our drivers' schedules. You must be at home to receive your meals.
What if I have to cancel a meal?
If you have to cancel a meal, you must do so by 11 a.m. the previous workday to avoid being charged for the meal. 24-hour advance cancellation is required.
How do I sign up for Meals on Wheels?
Call any of the numbers above between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. One month advance deposit is required. Mail to Senior Friendship Centers meals on Wheels, 2350 Scenic Drive, Venice, FL 34293 or pay by debit or credit card over the phone at the numbers above. Hot meals are not available at all locations.
How can I be assured the meals provide adequate nutrition?
Our menus are developed by a licensed registered dietician to meet one-third of the recommended daily nutrition requirements for older adults.
Who delivers Friendship Meals on Wheels?
Meals are delivered by friendly, conscientious drivers who are employees and volunteers of Senior Friendship Centers. Our drivers are licensed and screened for the ability to relate well with older adults and the physically challenged.
