It’s no secret that Sarasota County, with more than a third of the population over the age of 65, is a leader on the leading edge of the “Age Wave” sweeping the world’s population. And increasingly, Senior Friendship Centers is drawing national and international attention as a model to address the needs of a growing older population.
That’s part of what attracted KBS Television, a Korean television station in Seoul, to elect to include Senior Friendship Centers in an upcoming two-part documentary series on Living Well to 100, for a special program similar to Sixty Minutes or 20/20. The KBS team, including producer Yang Seok Yun, photojournalist YeonaTaek Seo and reporter Hee Hyang Lee, spent two days shooting at the Center this week. The documentary will look at the state of positive aging in Amsterdam, Seoul, Korea and Tokyo Japan.
Mr. Yun learned about through Senior Friendship Centers through the book Shock of Grey by Ted Fishmon, and after further research selected SFC as a model for senior services and care.
