Annual Appeal

Dear Friends,

When we look back upon 2009, what might we remember most? Stunning unemployment rates? Need all around?
How about People Helping People?

The economic downturn has affected everyone, but we also know that “Compassion is Recession-Proof.” As you consider the many ways in which you can support community programs, please knowthat the Friendship Centers would not be able to serve more than 20,000 individuals annually without the compassion of individuals like yourself –who care enough to give to the less fortunate.

Stroll around Senior Friendship Centers and you’ll find People Helping People in action. From the individual who greets you at the Senior Center door to the Friendly Visitor on the phone, to the medical intern in the health clinic, people are helping people daily.

“I will never forget this humbling experience. You all truly change the lives of dozens of people every day.”
- Jennifer, Intern, Centers for Healthy Aging

Thank you for your generosity during the past year - your contributions enable Senior Friendship Centers to serve clients in the best possible way. Your support enables us to provide programs to keep people healthy, to provide health care to those most needy, to serve nutritious meals at noon in our cafes or delivered to the homebound. These are just a few of the nationally recognized programs provided daily in our community by Senior Friendship Centers people.

As we look toward the promise of better economic times, many in our community face very urgent needs that will go unmet without your support. Please reach deep into the compassion within yourself and give to a trusted organization that makes a difference every day in our community. We are grateful you are a part of this effort.

Thank you for your gift and for being an important part of People Helping People.

Sincerely,

Robert J. Carter                            Mary Alice Jackson, Esq.
President & CEO                          Chair, Board of Governors
